Empty Tote Outbound

Before goods are received on site, empty totes need to be prepared in advance. The Empty Tote Outbound mode allows operators to request empty totes to be dispatched from the automated warehouse (AS/RS) to the workstation, where they will be manually picked up.

Workflow Steps

  1. Switch and Start Empty Tote Outbound at the manual station.

  2. The operator inputs the requested quantity of empty totes to be dispatched.

  3. WES receives the outbound request and checks available tote inventory.

    • If the available tote count is insufficient, the WCS station displays an error: Requested quantity exceeds available stock (Available: X).

    • If sufficient, WES creates Empty Tote Outbound Actions. Meanwhile, WCS displays Request successful, Waiting for tote quantity: X on the station page.

  4. WES sends the action to WCS. WCS receives it and generates Job and Tasks, displaying a list of outbound totes with status indicators.

  5. Then, WCS schedules execution based on queue position availability at the station, then sends instructions to RCS.

  6. RCS dispatches robots to transport totes. When a tote leaves its storage location, status messages are reported to RCS, WCS, and WES.

  7. When the tote arrives at the workstation, RCS sends a task completion message to WCS and WES. Meanwhile, WCS displays Completed status and prompts the operator to remove the tote manually.

  8. Once the tote is removed from the carrier manually, the robot detects the removal and automatically leaves the station.
