Flow Rack Management

Flow Rack Management

Overview

The Flow Rack module is specifically designed for use in AirRob + picking scenarios with flow rack shelving. It provides visualization of bin/container locations on flow racks, helping operators and managers quickly understand the current container status and perform one-click container clearing and return-to-storage actions.

The system retrieves and displays flow rack bin data in a visual, zone one-based layout.

Each Zone is shown as a grouped block, and the bin locations are sorted and grouped by Aisle and Bay, using Location Name for ordering.

Each zone will be marked as a different color according to the bin status.

  • Green: Bin is occupied by one or more containers. The number of containers is displayed.

  • Blue: The bin is assigned to an active task, but the container has not yet arrived (in-progress step).

  • White: The bin is currently empty, with no assigned task.

This intuitive color-coded design enables users to instantly assess container distribution and task progress across the flow rack zones.

Clear Rack Containers and Return

The Clear Rack Containers and Return feature allows operators to batch-clear remaining containers from a selected zone, returning them to storage.

Workflow:

  1. Click the Create Rack Containers and Return button for a specific zone.

  2. The system will initiate box-level putaway tasks by calling the standard container-inbound task interface.

  3. Locations with containers to be cleared will flash with lights for easy identification.

  4. After picking is complete, lights will turn off automatically.

Note:

The system will block the clearing operation if:

  1. Any location in the zone still has containers assigned to in-progress steps.

  2. There are any uncompleted tasks associated with the bins.

This ensures task integrity and prevents operational conflicts.
