Core Concepts
Understand the core concepts that define how Item DI operates as the data integration hub within the Item ecosystem.
Merchant
A Merchant represents a business entity, organization, or customer within the Item ecosystem. All integrations, connectors, and automation workflows are configured under a specific merchant, which defines the operational boundary for data synchronization.
Connector
A Connector is the bridge between Item DI and external platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon) or internal systems (e.g., Item OMS, Item WMS). It encapsulates the authentication method, API access rules, and data exchange logic required for integration.
Flow
A Flow is a visual automation that connects triggers, logic, tools, and connectors to execute specific business processes—such as syncing orders, inventory, or shipments. Flows transform static connectors into actionable data operations and can run on schedule or event-based triggers.
Relationship with the Item Ecosystem
Item DI serves as the integration layer within the broader Item ecosystem.
