Prepull + Drop & Hook

In the drayage logistics, Prepull + Drop & Hook is a routing strategy designed to improve efficiency, reduces port congestion, minimizes demurrage fees and maximizes truck utilization by avoiding idle wait times during loading or unloading. It involves prepulling a container from a port or rail yard ahead of its scheduled delivery and temporarily storing it at a yard or terminal. The container is then transported to the destination, where the loaded trailer is dropped off, and an empty or preloaded trailer is hooked up for the next trip.

Prepull + Drop & Hook routing template contains three Moves, Pickup Container and Drop Container are involved in Move 1, Hook Container, Delivery Container and Drop Container are included in Move 2, Hook Container and Return Container are involved in Move 3.
This article provides the guidance on how to complete the load process with this routing template.

Operatio on Move 1

Dispatch Load on Web

This section provides the structure on how to edit the load information and arrange driver assignment.

1. Navigate to Dispatcher > Dispatcher List, confirm the target load and click Load # into details page. It supports quick searching via Load #.

2. Keep on Info Tab, update the Vessel ETA, Last Free Day and Discharged Date. More field details, please refer to this article (opens in a new tab).

3. Click Routing tab, confirm the Routing Template then to select a driver to execute Move 1.

Accept and Execute Move 1 on App

This section explains how the driver confirms the acceptance and executes the task on mobile app.

1. Go to Home > Upcoming, it displays all assigned loads in this interface.
2. Select the target task, tap the task, tap Accept Load button to accept it. Otherwise, tap Reject button. Tap YES to continue.

3. Go to Active tab, it display all accepted loads in this page.
4. Start the first event: Pickup Container. When you arrived the pickup location, please tap the Arrived button to update the status. Tap CONFIRM to process.
5. Tap Departed when you drive to next location.

6. Continue second event: Drop Container. Tap Arrived to update the status if you arrived in delivery destination.

When you complete the entire task, the load will been displayed under Complete tab.

Operation on Move 2

Complete Driver Assignment for Move 2 on Web

When the prepull task is completed by driver, the dispatcher should continue arranging driver for Move 2 on web platform.

1. Go to Dispatcher > Dispatcher List, click Load # to access details page of the target load. You can find the load status has changed to dropped.
2. Go to Routing tab, select one driver from the down-drop listing for Move 2.

Execute Move 2 on App

This section explains the work flow to execute Move 2 on driver app.

1. Navigate to Home > Upcoming, confirm the target task, then tap it into details page.
2. Confirm the acceptance, please tap Accept Load button if you accept the task and agree to execute the task.

3. Switch to Active tab, confirm the target task and start to record the process in this interface.
4. Start the first event: Hook Container. Tap Arrived button when you arrived in the location to hook container.
5. Update the status via tapping Departed when you are driving to next destination.

6. Start the second event: Delivery Container. Mark the status as Arrived via tapping Arrived button, when arriving the location.
7. Tap Sign button to complete signing proof of delivery, configure the involved parameters then tap Apply to save and apply these data.
8. Tap Done to continue the task.
9. Update the status to Departed if you left the delivery location via tapping Departed button.

10. When you completed dropping the container at the location, please tap Arrived to update the status.

Operation on Move 3

Assign Driver for Move 3 on Web

The dispatcher should update the related fields and schedule driver for Move 3 on web. This section introduces the detailed steps.

1. Update Empty Date, Return Day and Ready to Return Date fields within Info tab under Dispatcher > Dispatcher List.

2. Switch to Routing tab to assign the driver for this task.

Execute Move 3 on App

This section introduces on how to execute the Move 3 on app.

1. View the assigned load via Home > Upcoming.
2. Tap the task into details and confirm the acceptance, tap Accept Load if you want to execute this task.

3. Start the task and update the related information under Home > Active.
4. Start Hook Container, if you arrived the location please tap Arrived to update status.
5. Mark the status as Departed if you are driving to next location, through tapping Departed button.

6. Tap Arrived when you arrive the location to return container.

All tasks have been completed, the load status will be updated to arrived at return load automatically.

Complete Load on Web

After all moves completing, the dispatcher should check the process and confirm to complete the load on web. Here are the corresponding steps.

1. Enter the details page of the target load.
2. Switch to Routing tab, check the process to confirm whether existing any issues.
3. Click Complete Load if everything is correct.
