Route Settings
Overview
In the WCS system, the Route Settings module is used to configure device walking routes within the warehouse. By default, if no route is configured, devices will move freely based on system dispatch or shortest path logic. However, in complex operational scenarios, it is often necessary to define fixed walking routes to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with workflow requirements.
The Route Settings page is primarily used to visually draw the walking routes of devices on a selected warehouse map. These routes guide devices through predefined task sequences - such as picking, packing, charging, and returning - and help enforce optimized movement within the facility.
Configuration Steps
-
Go to Warehouse Management > Route Settings.
-
Begin by selecting the map where routing will be configured, then click on Create Map Path to start customizing routes.
-
Draw the route.
-
Select the existing Points on the map and connect them in order to define the route.
-
For example:
A. Start at Start Point (Point A).
B. Move to Point B to perform picking.
C. Deliver goods to Point C (Packing Area).
D. After offloading, go to Point D (Charging Point) for charging.
E. Finally proceed to the End Point.
-
If required points do not exist on the current map, you can add them through the methods below:
-
Create Point: Manually add and define new points (e.g., type, coordinates)
-
Import Point: Bulk import point data for faster setup.
Benifits
-
Prevent devices from taking random or unsafe routes.
-
Optimize travel paths for picking and replenishment tasks.
-
Improve movement efficiency and reduce traffic congestion.
-
Support specific operational flows or safety-related path restrictions.
