It supports a wide range of business functions, including:
- Multi-channel order management (via API or EDI integrations)
- Order routing and fulfillment planning
- Purchase and procurement management
- Inventory synchronization across platforms
- Shipment execution and tracking
- Data mapping and configuration for system-level control
Role in the Item Ecosystem
OMS acts as the core operational layer within the Item ecosystem, connecting upstream integration data from Item DI with downstream execution in Item WMS.
| Layer | System | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Upstream (DI) | Data Integration | Receives and consolidates sales orders, customer information, and product data from multiple sales channels. |
| Core (OMS) | Order Management | Processes, routes, and manages sales and purchase orders, applying business rules and fulfillment logic. |
| Downstream (WMS) | Warehouse Execution | Executes order fulfillment through picking, packing, and shipping, then returns status updates to OMS. |
This layered flow enables OMS to serve as the command center for order operations, ensuring accurate data transfer and status synchronization across all systems.
